Former Law & Order: SVU star Christopher Meloni will be trading in his vampire fangs for his old detective’s badge when he returns to NBC’s SVU this fall. Meloni played the role of Detective Elliot Stabler for the first twelve seasons of the hit show, but declined to return for a thirteenth season.
“I’m so thrilled to have him back!” says Mariska Hargitay who plays Detective Olivia Benson, Stabler’s former partner. “But I wonder how it will shake up the dynamics of the squad. We have two new detectives, so we’ll have to wait and see how Stabler is incorporated into the new dynamic.” Danny Pino and Kelli Giddish joined the cast when Meloni left at the end of the twelfth season.
“It’s like going home again,” says Meloni about returning to SVU. “I can’t wait to get back out on the streets of New York and chase down some perps.”
