First of all, this is NOT your fault. Secondly, you’ve got to tell someone. I can understand if you feel uncomfortable telling another member of your family, but there must be someone else you trust…a teacher, a minister, a coach, etc. If you truly feel there is no one you can talk to, please call the RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network). They will NOT pressure you into reporting, but they can be very helpful. I have called them a number of times (sometimes in the middle of the night) when I needed someone to talk to. The bottom line is that you need a way out of this situation, and you’re going to need counseling. Trust me…I avoided it for a long time, and things just kept getting worse. As far as “ruining your family name,” you won’t; he ruined it by raping you. This is NOT your fault, nor are you to blame for any of it. If you would like to contact me for additional resources, support, or just to talk, feel free. There’s a link to my personal blog on this page. Take care, and be kind to yourself.
